Councilmember Bernard C. Parks will kick off the 21st annual Kingdom Day Parade on Jan 16th,
2006. It’s the second year the parade route will be reversed from its original path. Now beginning at the corner of Western Avenue and King Boulevard and ending with a festival at Crenshaw Boulevard and Vernon Avenue, the parade has become quite an asset to the Leimert Park business community. This parade provides an opportunity to show the best of Los Angeles African American culture as others join in tribute to our community and share this experience
on the day the celebrates of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The Parade, sponsored by the Celes King Foundation and Dr. Larry Grant, will continue its tradition of featuring actors, news anchors, city dignitaries and the rest of the best of Los Angeles. In addition to Councilmember Parks, this year’s special guests will include: Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa as Grand Marshal and Oakland Mayor Jerry Brown as Celebrity Grand Marshal.
Besides being business friendly, the festival is quickly becoming a favorite of the Kingdom Day Parade celebration.
