The word originates from the Xhosa (Ko-sa) tribe of South Africa.
The SIYAVUKA festival is a three-day celebration beginning Friday, February 25th with a Black-Tie dinner dance, including VIP speakers and performances by Dionne Warwick and Eric Darius. Saturday, February 26th begins with the opening of a two-day festival, free to the public, in the SeaWalk area with ethnic food, live music, arts/crafts, dancers, community booths, and a Wellness Pavilion. Saturday evening offers a dance party on the ship with live music! The "SIYAVUKA" festival concludes on Sunday, February 27th, with a Gospel Brunch Buffet (all you can eat) featuring well-known and local choirs and performers. During the entire weekend the ship will feature Black history and art exhibits.
SIYAVUKA is waiting for you. Come, be a part of SIYAVUKA and realize your full potential in celebrating Black History Month. For more information call (562) 435-3511 - extension 6213 or e-mail felton.hyche@queenmary.com
